The Mission of Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity is to encourage,
nurture and support the art of music.
What is Sigma Alpha Iota?
Sigma Alpha Iota is an organization which promotes interaction among those who share a commitment to music. Members of SAI are active in all areas of music and campus life, working closely with faculty, administration, and campus groups. Alumnae members are teachers, performers, professionals, and patrons of local and national arts organizations. In addition to personal encouragement and support, members may receive scholarships, grants, and awards in many areas of music-related study. Sigma Alpha Iota has long been recognized as a leader in the field of music.
If you are a woman with a sincere interest in music, you are eligible to become a member of SAI! I became a member of Sigma Alpha Iota in Spring 2018. The process of membership was a time of growth for me. My fellow Members-in-Training and I were involved in fundraisers, service projects, and a recital throughout our process. During this process and as a member, I learned who I want to be not only as a music educator, but as a person. I am forever grateful that I was extended a bid and earned my membership in this organization.

Music Chair
Each chapter of SAI has a Music Chair. This position is responsible for the music aspect of the chapter. These include, but not limited to, leading weekly rehearsals, planning and programming musicales, and heading the music committee. In Spring 2019, I was appointed and served as Music Chair until graduation.
One of the most important responsibilities of Music Chair is planning and leading rehearsals. Our chapter had weekly rehearsals to learn and practice new music. These songs were performed for musicales, ceremonies, and other music events.
During my time as music chair, I was able to create our chapter's YouTube channel. I created the account to showcase songs from our musicales and to make practice tracks for assigned songs. This was very helpful and our chapter had more productive music rehearsals! I was also able to update our music library with more selections for performances.
